Description

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow is seated at a table and holds a pen above a piece of paper. He looks down at the paper. A paperweight (?), and two books are on the right of the table. Part of the chair with upholstery and tacks is visible.
Inscription: "1872-1876" written in pencil verso. "c. 1866" underneath the photograph on the front has been erased.
Notes: C1870-C1876. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's appearance and outfit are similar to those in 1876 portraits. The exact reasons for the "1872-1876" date in inscription are unknown.
Associated Materials: 3007-1-2-1-47 is identical print not mounted.
