Description
Narcisse J. Pelletier's Store on Bridge Street, Springvale, is shown in the early 1890s.
Narcisse Jeremie Pelletier was born in St. Andrew de Kamouraska, Quebec, on November 16, 1857. He first came to the U.S. in June 1873, arriving in Brunswick. He was naturalized September 8, 1892.
He started his own grocery store in Springvale in 1884. He also worked at a box factory near the railroad station.
After his death on January 13, 1900, Pelletier's wife, Gaudelie, continued the grocery at first with her son Samuel and her brother David Caron. By 1921 she transferred ownership of the store to her sons David, Joseph and Charles, who purchased the property in 1922.
In 2003, a small park stood where the N. J. Pelletier Store was located.
At far left is the E. E. Wentworth home.
