Description
A view looking north on Main Street, Kingfield, circa 1910.
An octagonal gazebo, or bandstand, stands off center to the left at the intersection of Main and Depot Streets. Just before the gazebo on the left, marked by ornately painted poles on the street and storefront, is the Kingfield Fruit Store, O.W. Gilbert, Proprietor.
Ossian W. Gilbert sold fruit, confectionary, cigars, and stationary - a sign for the soft drink Moxie stands on the sidewalk before his store.
Across the street is a store marked above with a large wooden mortar and pestle and the sign of L.L. Mitchell, Druggist. Lester L. Mitchell dispensed drugs and medicines, and also carried paints, oils, wallpaper and other goods.
