Description
Julia Ward Howe was the author of the "Battle Hymn of the Republic." The flyer shows her with the text of her composition.
She also was a noted reformer and lecturer. Her daughters, Laura Howe Richards of Gardiner, and Maud Howe Elliott won a Pulitizer Prize for a book about their mother.
