Description
Samuel Freeman (1743-1831) of Portland owned this snuff box. The initials "C.M." appear inside the cover.
Freeman was Portland's postmaster, a selectman, president of the Maine Bank, and served in numerous other civic functions. He also published the journal of the Rev. Thomas Smith, pastor the First Parish Church for 50 years.
