Description
James Sullivan (1744-1808), a native of Berwick, wrote to Massachusetts Governor James Bowdoin about his feeling unqualified to serve at the Annapolis Convention that met in 1786 to discuss problems with the Articles of Confederation.
Sullivan was a state court judge and delegate to the Continental Congress from 1782-1783. He was governor of Massachusetts from 1807-1808 and died in office.
