Description

The map shows southern Maine and northeastern New Hampshire. It was was "prepared expressly to illustrate Tuttle's Historical Papers. 1889." Astronomer and historian Charles Wesley Tuttle authored a series of historical papers, known collectively as "Tuttle's Historical Papers." This map appeared within Tuttle's work Francis Champernowne, the Dutch conquest of Acadie, and other historical paperscopy.

Francis Champernowne (1614-1687) was a prominent settler of Kittery, and nephew of Sir Fernando Gorges.
