Description
Hot coals were placed in the drawer. The foot warmer was carried by the handle and placed on the floor of the sleigh or pung. A rider would warm his or her feet by resting them on the warmer. While effective, warmers with live embers always risked setting clothes or other materials on fire since most were made of wood, fabric, leather or furs.
