Description
One of the many music groups in Portland at the end of the nineteenth century was Grimmer's Orchestra, organized by Charles Grimmer, an immigrant from Prussia.
Orchestra members are, front row, from left, Charles Grimmer, violin; Frank Buxton, violin; and Charles P. Carleton, violin.
Back row, from left, are Jacob N. Jacobson, flute and picolo; William F. Todd, clarinet; Charles F. Jones, bass; Charles M. Brooks, coronet; Walter S. Brewer, trombone; and Fred W. Leavitt, drum.
