Description
WACs attend a beauty salon opened at Dow Air Field. The shop, managed by Verna Cook, whose husband was a sargent assigned to Dow Field and who had previously run a beauty shop for ten years. WACs and Army Nurses no longer had to go into town to gte their hair done; prices were reasonable--a manicure was fifty cents, a shampoo and set eighty five, and a perm four dollars. The shop was outfitted with blue and cream linoleum floors and gold damask drapes; two WACs with beautician training assisted in their off hours.
