Description
George F. Shepley, Acting Brigadier General of the 3rd Brigade, wrote to Horatio Jose from Ship Island, Mississippi, expressing his sadness that Jose was leaving the 12th Regiment.
Shepley apparently had recruited Jose as quartermaster of the Maine regiment.
