Ezra Haskell, Portland, ca. 1850

Description

Ezra Haskell (ca. 1814-1879) was a ship captain working out of Boston on the coastal trade, sailing as far south as Brazil.

In 1856 he captained the Norseman.

His wife, Maria, accompanied him on many of his working voyages and kept a diary of her travels.

Haskell was born in North Yarmouth and was a well-known and respected businessman in Portland.
