Description
The Brook End Cottage was designed by William Ralph Emerson. It was built in 1880-1881 for General W. F. Smith. It is said that Mr. Smith was an outspoken and somewhat controversial person during the Civil War.
In 1889 this cottage was purchased by Dr. Robert Abbe of New York. Dr. Abbe raised the funding for the Robert Abbe Museum at Sieur de Monts.
The Brook End was located at the outlet of Duck Brook and was demolished about 1963.
