Description
This is a good example of a locally invented and manufactured device.
It probably was used to pick spruce gum from spruce trees. A handle is inserted into the socket on the left. The ring is meant to hold a cup. A rasp that had been bent and sharpened is welded onto the device to make it easier to chip the spruce gum from a tree. The gum will fall into the cup.
Spruce gum can be found on the bark of spruce trees. It is the sap that has dried and hardened.
