Description
This is a Civil War pension issued to Margaret (Dennison) Dillingham (1818-1878) by the Secretary of the Interior, Commissioner of Pensions. She is entitled to the pension because her son John Monroe Dillingham served on board the U.S. sloop of war Housatonic. (During his service he was captured by the Confederate Army and died a prisoner of war at Andersonville Prison, GA.) Very specific conditions for continuing to receive the pension are set out.
