Description
Steamship ferry Star of the East is shown at Steamboat Wharf in Gardiner in about 1870.
The ferry was built in New York in 1865 and put on the Gardiner to Boston run, making two trips weekly. It was rebuilt in 1891, when it was renamed Sagadahoc. It continued to operate until 1902.
