Description
Monument Park, Memorial Day, 1909, facing Broadway, Houlton. The monument was dedicated to those who served in the Civil War to save the Union and abolish slavery.
The Great Fire of Houlton, 1902, destroyed many buildings near the center of town. After the fire, it was decided that part of the area that was burned should be used for the construction of Cary Library (right) and for a war memorial and park. The Plummer house is seen in back.
