Description

Algernon Sidney Washburn (1814-1879) was the second son of Israel and Martha B. Washburn of Livermore.

He was a merchant in Boston. Sidney always helped his brothers whenever they were in need. In 1853, his brothers Elihu and Cadwallader asked him if he would became a cashier at their new bank: The Bank of Hallowell.

In 1862, he organized The First National Bank of Hallowell.

He married Sarah A. Moore in Bangor on January 11, 1854. He died at Hallowell in 1879.
