Description
Llewellyn Powers was born in Pittsfield in 1836. He attended Pittsfield Academy and Colby College. He studied law at Union University, Albany, New York, 1860. In 1861 he set up his law practice in Houlton.
Powers, a Republican, served five terms in the Maine Legislature and was Governor of Maine from 1897-1901. Powers also served several terms in Congress until his death in 1908.
