Description
In the early years of Dr. Kenneth Dore's medical practice, from 1938-1974, many of the rural homes had wells and some had pumps. However, many of them did not have running water.
Emily Dore Fletcher explains, "My father tried to discourage home deliveries because the conditions in some of these homes were not always optimum. Some of these rural farms had nothing but dirt floors." Therefore, the forceps pictured here were sterilized with whiskey or other alcohol.
