Description
After Deering High School moved from this building on Stevens Avenue in Portland to what is now Lincoln Junior High School in 1889, this building was remodeled into Longfellow Elementary School.
The remodeling included changing the entrance from Stevens Avenue to the side of the building. After the present Longfellow School was built next to this structure in the 1950s, this site became a playground.
