Description
Joshua L. Chamberlain (1828-1914) led the 20th Maine regiment during the Civil War and is noted for defending Little Round Top during the Battle of Gettysburg.
After the war, Chamberlain was elected governor of Maine and served from 1867-1871. He also was president of Bowdoin College.
