Description
Harry Jones and James Dewitt Hill stand next to Jones' Hazzard Shoe Co. plane at Old Orchard Beach.
Hill, pilot of Old Glory, a Fokker monoplane. was at Jones' beach airport in preparation for their flight to Europe. Lloyd Bertaud was co-pilot and the third crew member was Phillip Payne, a representative of William Randolph Hearst, who sponsored the flight.
The plane took off Sept 7th, 1927, and was reported missing on Sept 8. It went down at sea.
