Thomas A. Curtis, Brunswick, ca. 1860

Description

Thomas A. Curtis (ca. 1776-1868) moved to Brunswick in 1840 and operated a cleaning and mending business as well as carrying wood and building fires for Bowdoin College.

He was an avid reader and had a large collection of books. He was nicknamed "Diogenes." Curtis left his library to the College.
