Description
Leonhard Seppala, right, and one of his dogs at a challenge race in Poland Spring in 1927.
Seppala took his Siberian Huskies to Poland Spring in 1927 and raced against Arthur Walden's Chinook team from New Hampshire.
Seppala's team won the race.
He and Elizabeth Ricker, wife of the owner of Poland Spring resort, started a Siberan husky breeding kennel at Poland Spring.
