Description
John Dillingham, a sea captain, wrote from Point Petre (Pointe a Pitre), Guadeloupe, to his wife, Margaret, in Freeport about a large earthquake that had struck Point Petre before his arrival, destroying the city and kiling about 2,000 people.
He was able to unload his cargo there anyway.
