Description
Franklin Pierce (1804-1869) of New Hampshire wrote to George W. Pierce (1805-1835) of Portland, a distant cousin and law school roommate, answering G.W. Pierce's inquiry about Franklin's plans for the future.
Pierce noted that he did not view New Hampshire as his permanent home, that he did not know what the future would bring, but that at present, his prospects "appear tolerably fair and promising."
Franklin Pierce was President of the United States from 1853-1857.
