Description
Wiley Post standing up in cockpit and Harold Gatty on the plane, Winnie Mae, a Lockheed 5C Vega monoplane. Unidentified police officer on left.
The plane was nicknamed "Around the World" because pilot Post and navigator Gatty set the record for flying around the world in the plane in June 1931. The flight took 8 days, 16 hours.
Post set the solo round-the-world record of 7 days, 19 hours in July 1933.
