Description

Born in Lancaster, New Hampshire, March 14, 1867, William Batchelder was the first bookkeeper of the Goodall Worsted Company, founded in 1889. He continued with the worsted company for 43 years, acting as Assistant Treasurer and General Manager. With his brother George he helped organize Batchelder Bros. Insurance Co. He helped form the Sanford Trust Company and became its president. At the time of his death he was also president of the Sanford Garage, Inc. and Sanford Building Corp. He lived at what was then 14 Lebanon Street in Sanford. In 1888 he married Nellie Watson and later had two children Lloyd and Alice. Mr. Batchelder died December 10, 1935.
