Description
The Willard Haven Hotel at Willard Beach in South Portland. The photo was taken two years before the building was partly razed and burned by the South Portland Fire Department.
The summer hotel was developed from the original story-and-a-half structure at left. Capt. Charles Willard operated it.
During World War II, the hotel was enlarged to house shipyard workers. Other efforts at development of the site failed and the building was condemned and finally removed.
