Description
On the Springvale Nine team, front, from left, are: Dick Clark, John Dewire, Charles L. Bernier, the team's 11 year-old mascot, Walter Remick, Clyde McKenzie and Eddie Muchmore.
In the second row are: Eddie Grondin, Ernest Hanson, Jimmy Cahill and Elmer Ferguson; standing: Ralph Hamilton, Everett Wentworth and Haven Butler.
Baseball was quite popular in Sanford starting from the 1890s. Teams were sponsored by schools, fraternal orders, the Goodall industries and other organizations.
