Description
Members of the Springvale Nine baseball team are, front row, from left, Dick Clark, John Dewire, Charles L. Bernier, the team's 11-year-old mascot; Walter Remick, Clyde McKenzie and Eddie Muchmore.
In the second row, from left, are Eddie Grondin, Ernest Hanson, Jimmy Cahill and Elmer Ferguson.
Standing, from left, are Ralph Hamilton, Everett Wentworth and Haven Butler.
Baseball was very popular in Sanford in 1890s and for at least two decades thereafter. Teams were sponsored by schools, fraternal orders, the Goodall industries and other organizations.
