Description
Thomas Brackett Reed (1839-1902) resigned in 1899 from the U.S House of Representatives seat he had held since 1877 due to a disagreement over the U.S. going to war with Spain.
Reed, a Republican, is noted for introducing modern parliamentary procedures to the House while serving as Speaker.
