Description
Maine pilot Capt. Harry M. Jones, who operated an airport and flight service at Old Orchard Beach from 1919-1933, shakes hands with aviatrix, Mrs. Frances Wilson Grayson, a niece of President Woodrow Wilson.
Grayson owned The Dawn,, which attempted a transatlantic flight from Old Orchard Beach in 1927. Bad weather and mechanical problems prevented the flight leaving from Old Orchard. The crew then attempted the flight from New York.
The plane was never seen again.
