Description
Monplane The Dawn, in the surf during a gale and high sea at Old Orchard Beach on October 13, 1927.
The plane, with Wilmer Stulz as pilot, attempted three times to take off from Old Orchard Beach for a transatlantic flight. Weather and mechanical problems halted all three attempts.
The plane later flew out of New York and was lost over the Atlantic Ocean.
