Description

John Neal, a Portland native who became a noted art critic and arts supporter, wrote from Baltimore to his sister, Rachel, in Portland.

He comments that rumors of yellow fever in Baltimore were false. He also mentions that he has no business to attend to and discusses his friends and whether they are "Yankees."
