Description
A view of Memorial Hall on the Bowdoin College Campus.
College alumni decided in 1865 to construct a memorial building to soldiers.
Alumni wanted the building to have memorial inscriptions, busts, portraits and flags.
The college was also in need for more lecture-rooms, a hall for exhibitions, and a common rallying point for the alumni so these were also added to the memorial building.
The building also is known as Pickard Theater.
