Description
President John Adams wrote to the inhabitants of North Yarmouth in 1798 thanking them for endorsing him, describing the qualities of patriotism, and explaining the misplaced pretentious national feelings of a larger more powerful nation towards a smaller one; presumably of Britain toward the new United States.
