Contributed by Maine Historical Society

Description

Samuel Waldo, a wealthy landowner from Falmouth, served with William Pepperrell of Kittery during the capture of Louisburg, Cape Breton, in 1745 from the French.

He also was a proprietor for the Waldo Patent, lands in Maine bounded by the Muscongus and Penobscot rivers in what is now Waldo County.

In this letter from Boston, Waldo refers to a dispute he is having and tells Pepperrell he will tell him about it in person.
