Description
Josiah Willard, the Massachusetts Colony Provincial Secretary, wrote to William Pepperrell (1695-1759) of Kittery about lumber cut from Hog Island even though Willard understood that Pepperrell intended for none to be cut. He sought an explanation from Pepperrell, a wealthy landowner, merchant and businessman.
