Description
This monument at Hermon Corner was dedicated in 1901 with this inscription:
"Erected A.D. 1901 - In Honor of the Defenders of our Country - 1861 - 1865 - By the citizens of Hermon and Members of Daniel Chaplin W.R.C. No. 39 - the Promoters."
The town contributed $500 toward the monument and the Women's Relief Corps, which was active through
1904, contributed the remainder.
