Description

"Reno," was written by A. Lee Ferguson of Mapleton.

Aubrey Lee Ferguson (July 22, 1887 - Oct. 27, 1918), son of J. N. and Jennie Ferguson, was a graduate of Ricker Classical Institute and an accomplished pianist. He toured the country and published some popular songs. A native of Mapleton, he continued to work and live in the area as a businessman and manager of the "Family Theatre." After being rejected by the U. S. Army, in 1917 he joined Canada's 236th Overseas Battalion, "The New Brunswick Kilties." He died in England of influenza in 1818.

The decorative swastikas around the title were a popular and common design prior to the rise of Nazism and World War Two. Thought to have originated in India in neolithic times, it was used in the early 20th century for good luck.
