Description

Sue Winchell Burnett (1881-1962) was a talented violoncellist and a musical artist.

She played at the funeral of Joshua L. Chamberlain opening the services with a cello solo, "If With All Your Hearts" from "Elijah."

She married married Dr. Charles Theodore Burnett in 1914 in Brunswick.

The Sue Winchell Burnett Music Prize was established in 1963 by Rebecca P. Bradley. It is awarded to a Bowdoin College senior music major who has made the most significant contribution to music while a studen.
