Description
View of the Saco and Pettee Shops as seen from Water Street, Saco in 1910. This company produced textile manufacturing equipment, and later became the Saco-Lowell Shops. At the right can be seen the "Spring House" on Spring's Island, where General Lafayette visited in June of 1825. It stands as part of the Deering Lumber Company property as of 2007. The Saco River is quite high in the photograph.
