Description
Granville Sparrow (1837-1907) of Deering, later part of Portland, was promoted in July 1864 as Captain of Company B in the Seventeenth Infantry Volunteers. Initially part of 17th Me.,Co.A, Sparrow served in some 30+ battles during the Civil War.
