Description
Jonathan Sparrow of Portland received a receipt for payment of $30 to the U.S. Patent Office "in conformity to an Act of Congress dated 21st February, 1793, entitled "An Act to promote the Progress of useful Arts."
It is unclear what the patent was for.
Sparrow apparently was a relative of Granville Sparrow, who served with the 17th Maine volunteers in the Civil War and received his own patent in 1876.
