Description
The gazebo with the religious banner was the center of the amphitheater that was part of the Old Orchard Beach Camp-Meeting Association that was started in 1873. Seating was approximately 7000 and the grove was said to have excellent acoustic properties. Judging from clothing this photo would have been around the 1880 - 1900 time period. The Salvation Army, who bought the Camp Grounds in 1952, started to hold their meetings there in 1885.
