Description
Josiah Pierce (1792-1866), a senior at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, wrote to his father, Josiah Pierce of Baldwin, explaining that he and others were dissatisfied with their exhibition parts (a type of examination).
Josiah and another student shared the third position and he did not want to share a part.
Their subject was "Philosophical Discussion on the connection between the progress of science and improvement in the arts."
