Description
Hannah Pierce (1788-1873) wrote to her sister-in-law Anne Longfellow Pierce of Portland. She mostly congratulates Anne on being again in her own house (after her husband's Legislative session in Augusta was ended).
Hannah, who remained single her whole life, referred to herself as "the Old Maid," as she did in many letters.
