Description
Hannah Pierce of Baldwin wrote to her brother Josiah Pierce, who was about to graduate from Bowdoin College, thanking him for the many letters he has written to her while he was in college and for the advice he offered.
She mentions a Sunday school she kept at David Sanborn's house.
She notes, "I have 40 scholars who are very attentive and anxious to improve. They are very ignorant and I often think my school similar to those in heathen countries, among the 40 I have but 9 who can read the Bible."
